Description

Come and explore drawing and painting, discovering key techniques to develop your own artistic style. Try different media, including pencils, drawing pens, watercolours and acrylics to experiment and choose your favourite to work with.  

What Qualification/level is this course?
Non accredited mixed level for personal development

Who is the course for?
Suitable for complete beginners and those with some prior knowledge and skills.

What can I expect to learn?
By the end of the course you will have developed your knowledge, practical skills and understanding of: -The techniques required for drawing and painting flora; detailed observational and technical skills to depict the texture and form of plants - The use of colour and tone using various media that may include pencil, ink, watercolour, aquarelle pencils. - Other artists work and their impact on your work; - The development of a working sketchbook together with completed art work(s).

How will I learn?
You will negotiate and agree your individual learning aims with your tutor at the start of the course. Teaching methods will include:- explanation, demonstration, group/individual discussions/critiques together with the completion of the individual and group projects/practical tasks.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Your tutor will regularly discuss your progress with you and this will be recorded on your Individual Learning Plan. You will also be encouraged to record your comments in return and review your learning aims throughout the course.

Will I Have to Do Any Work At Home?
Home study is optional; but you will be encouraged to work away from the course to develop your skills.

What will I need to provide?
You will be required to provide your own art equipment including: basic drawing equipment - sketchbook, pencils and a putty rubber. For the painting you will require a basic set of watercolour paints (starter kit), watercolour paper and brushes. Wait for advice before buying any further materials, as they can be expensive.
