This is an Entry Level course with no formal qualification
Who is the course for?
This course is parents and carers only, although you would be encouraged to discuss the topics with your childr at home
What can I expect to learn?
The Course Aims for this course are
Learn how to help children 'get ready to learn'
Try out activities to help improve children's confidence
Learn how to improve communication and relationships with children
Consider further adult learning opportunities
Course objectives are
Find out about the National Curriculum for Literacy in schools
Disover what and how your children are learning literacy in school/pre-school
Discuss ways to support your children's learning at home
Work to improve your own skills in English grammar, capitalisation, spelling, paragraphing, fiction and non-fiction writing
You will also be able to develop your own personal learning outcomes on the course
How will I learn?
The sessions are informal and will include practical tasks to try and complete with your child at home. The session will be facilitated by the tutor and will include working together to develop your understanding of the topic.
How will I know how well I am doing?
You will be given tutor feedback at the end of each task. The tutor will work with you to help you to think about your progress and decide on points where you may need more practice
Will I have to do any work at home ?
Although there is no requirement for any work at home, you may want to practice skills learnt with your children and discuss what you have learnt.
What will I need to provide?
There is no need to bring anything with you.
