Description

A combination of both theory and practice, looking at design ideas, construction, features and furnishings as well as seeing just what plants can be chosen for a whole range of situations, soil and microclimates.  

What Qualification/Level is this course?
Non-accredited.

Who is this course for?
Suitable for those with no experience in how to approach the design of a garden. Also suitable for gardeners who would like to improve the layout of a garden. Learn how to think like a designer. Note - planting design is not covered in this course, please see the Garden Design - Planting Introduction.

What can I expect to learn?
By the end fo the course you will have increased your knowledge, practical skills and understanding of - How to analyse your existing garden and identify areas for change. Which design themes and styles suit you and your garden How to prepare a mood board for a project. The essential design tips for creating lawns and flower borders. How to inject interest by creating different garden 'rooms' and the use of focal points.

How will I learn?
Teaching methods will include:- explanation, demonstrations, group/individual discussions/critiques together with the completion of the individual group projects and practical tasks that will increase your competency and confidence in this subject.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Your tutor will regularly discuss your progress with you and this will be recorded on your individual Learning Plan. You will also be encouraged to record your comments in return and review your learning aims throughout the course.

Will I need to do extra work at home?
If you wis to further explore and practise techniques learnt during the sessions in your own gardens.

What will I need to provide?
Please bring notepaper and pens/pencils to all sessions. Several sheets of A3 card or paper for creating your mood board. Your tutor will advise you at the first session with regard to other equipment and materials that may be required during the course.

Are there any other costs?
There may be additional costs according to your own personal development which will be agreed with our tutor.
