Description

This course is suitable for all levels. We believe that everyone can draw. Whether you're just starting out or have done a little drawing and want a reminder of the basics. We will help you develop your skills and potential. You will get the chance to express your creativity, experiment with different mediums and develop your drawing techniques in a fun and supportive environment.  

What Qualification/level is this course?
Non accredited / entry level / level 1

Who is the course for?
Beginners and improvers who wish to revise, practice and extend their drawing and painting skills.

What can I expect to learn?
By the end of the course you will have developed your knowledge, practical skills and understanding of how to: Use a variety of materials and processes for painting and drawing. Produce drawings and paintings from a range of themes such as still life, landscape, townscape and portrait. Develop observational drawing and painting skills including colour mixing, perspective, composition and brush techniques. To record your ideas creatively within a working sketchbook along with a range of completed art work(s).

How will I learn?
You will negotiate and agree your individual learning aims with your tutor at the start of the course. Teaching methods will include:- explanation, demonstration, group / individual discussions / critiques together with the completion of the individual and group projects / practical tasks.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Your tutor will regularly discuss your progress with you and this will be recorded on your Individual Learning Plan. You will also be encouraged to record your comments in return and review your learning aims throughout the course.

Will I have to do any work at home ?
Home study is optional; but you will be encouraged to work away from the course to develop your skills.

What will I need to provide?
Please bring a 2B pencil, A3 cartridge sketchbook and a putty rubber to the first session, when further advice on equipment will be given.

Additional costs will vary upon what materials you may already have and your negotiated projects. Please wait until you receive advice from your tutor at the start of the course before buying materials.
