Our Introduction to Bookkeeping course is the ideal starting point for future business leaders, accountants and entrepreneurs. You don't need any previous knowledge of accounting. Simply sign up and start your journey. In this course you will learn about: Business transactions, the banking system and double entry bookkeeping; Payroll and ledger accounts; Reconciliation and preparing the trial balance
What Qualification/level is this course?
This course leads to the Association of Accounting Technicians Access (Level 1) qualification. Learners will undertake an assessment to confirm their entry level and there will be an interview with the course tutor. Following this you will be informed whether you have secured a place on the course.

Who is the course for?
AAT Level 1 Certificate is offered as a finance taster to students interested in working within the finance and accountancy profession before committing to a higher level qualification.
AAT Level 1 Certificate in Accounting enhances student employability. It encompasses 3 AAT qualifications and offers a progression route to the AAT Accounting qualification.

How will I learn?
Learning will be by taught sessions, group discussion, tutorials and individual study.
How will I know how well I am doing?
The aim of the course is to prepare for the AAT exams which are taken at designated times during the year. A timetable of these dates will be available if you are successful in your application to join the course.
The tutor will also give feedback to you; this will be verbal and written.
Should it be necessary to resit an assessment, there will be a further cost implication.
Will I have to do any work at home ?
A minimum of between 2 and 4 hours of reading and private work will be required for successful completion of the examinations which are externally marked to a high standard.
Attendance is vital at every session.
What will I need to provide?
Pens and paper, etc. for taking notes and doing rough work.
A USB stick to retain work.

There are books available but these will not be published until late Summer 2015. We aim to be able to inform you of the ISBN number as soon as the details are available from Kaplan.

Registration with AAT must be obtained within 2 weeks of starting the course.
