Description

For Speakers of Other Languages, this course will help you to develop your English skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening to gain a qualification and improve communication in your everyday life and work. You will be expected to complete at least two hours of independent study each week. You must have attended an interview and assessment session (ESOL Pre Course Assessment) before joining an ESOL course.  

What Qualification/level is this course?
You will discuss the level of qualification you will be working towards with your tutor. This will be based on the outcomes of the Initial and Diagnostic assessments you will have completed prior to joining the course.

Please note, you may be required to travel to an alternative ACL Centre when taking your examination or assessment. This will be communicated to you at the earliest opportunity.

Who is this course for?
For speakers of other languages, who need to improve their reading, writing and speaking & listening skills, to become functional in their everyday lives and work. This course will include taking a qualification.

What can I expect to Learn?
You will discuss your individual learning needs with your tutor to enable you to work on the development of aspects of language and communication skills relevant to your own needs.

How will I learn?
You will learn in variety of ways using a range of relevant materials. You will work as part of whole group, small group and individually depending on the topic of the session.

How will I know how well I am doing?
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor on your progress.

Will I need to do extra work at home?
You will be expected to undertake some independent study and to complete any homework given by your tutor. You should allow at least two hours each week for this.

What will I need to provide?
You will need to bring a pen, pencil, ruler, lined paper and a folder for your work.. If you are thinking about buying a dictionary or calculator for your personal use we recommend that you speak with the tutor first to ensure you get one that is most suitable for you.
