These basics are covered in the Beginners course.

Who is this course for?
This course aims to provide an introduction to Pilates for learners who are new to Pilates or returning to Pilates classes after a long interval of not practising, and further technique development for those who have undertaken a Beginners course or have some previous experience of Pilates. We are committed to providing a safe environment for our learners and staff. Please inform us of any individual circumstances to help us meet your needs. If you have any health problems and are pregnant, please mention this at enrolment prior to the course, so this can be brought to the attention of the tutor. Pilates is a safe and effective exercise method that will provide you with physical skills that will enable you to change the way you look, the way you feel and the way you move. Demonstrate a range of Pilates exercises and postures that strengthen postural muscles and alignment and develop core stability at the body centre.

How will I learn?
Teaching methods include verbal instruction and practical demonstration with active participation, discussions and tutor feedback.

How will I know how well I am doing?
An Individual Learning Plan with specific learning outcomes will be negotiated and agreed at the beginning of the course. Learner achievement will be assessed and monitored by the tutor during the class and feedback given on a group basis or one-to-one as appropriate.
